하나님의 은혜가 한 것입니다
고린도전서 15:1~11

오늘은 부활주일입니다.
부활주일은 십자가 고난을 당하신 주님께서 죽음을 죽이시고 다시 살아나신 날을 기념하는 주일입니다. 부활신앙을 가지고 산다는 것은 예수님의 부활을 믿는 것뿐 아니라, 우리를 억누르는 죽음의 세력을 두려워하지 않고 사는 것을 의미합니다. 부활의 대척점에 서 있는 어둠이나 죽음의 문화를 따라 살지 않는 것, 그것이 지금 여기에서 부활의 삶을 사는 것입니다.
 

￭ 다 표현 못해도

‘부활의 신비’는 인간의 언어로 다 표현할 수 없고, 설명할 수도 없습니다. 다 설명할 수 없지만, 예수님의 부활사건은 사실이었다는 것은 분명합니다.

예수님이 체포당하신 순간부터 십자가에 돌아가신 이후 제자들은 뿔뿔이 흩어져 숨어있었습니다. 본래 삶의 자리로 돌아간 이들도 있었고, 혹시라도 예수님과 함께했기에 혹시라도 자신들에게 해가 미치지 않을까하여 숨어지던 이들도 있었습니다. 그런데, 무슨 일이 있었는지 그렇게 두려워 떨던 이들이 ‘목숨을 걸고’ 예수님의 부활을 전합니다. 부활하신 예수님을 만나지 않고서는 할 수 없는 일들이었습니다. 부활하신 예수님을 직접 본 사람도 있었고, 누군가에게 전해들은 이도 있었습니다. 우리도 예수님의 부활을 직접 본 것이 아니라 전해들을 사람들입니다. 그런데 우리는 주님의 부활을 믿습니다. 
그런데 우리는 이것을 체계적으로 다 설명할 수가 없습니다. 다 표현할 수가 없습니다. 왜 그럴까요? 원래 그렇습니다. 진리는 말로 다 표현될 수도 없고, 할 수도 없습니다. 어머니의 사랑을 알지만, 말로 다 표현할 수 없는 것과 같습니다. 그래서 도덕경에서도 ‘도’에 대해서 말할 때 ‘도라고 할 수 있는 것은 도라고 할 수 없다’고 하는 겁니다.
 

￭ 복음을 굳게 붙잡고 있으면(2)

복음이 무엇입니까? ‘복음은 기쁜 소식’입니다. 무엇이 기쁜 소식입니까? 하나님의 아들이신 예수님이 인간의 몸을 입고 이 땅에 오셨다는 것이 기쁜 소식입니다. 그런데 사람의 몸을 입은 그 예수님이 돌아가셨습니다. 그래서 다 끝난 줄 알았는데 그분이 죽음을 죽이시고 살아나셨습니다. 부활하셔서 주님을 믿는 사람들에게도 ‘부활의 소망’을 주신 것입니다. 그래서 ‘주 예수를 믿으라, 그리하면 멸망하지 않고 구원을 얻을 것이다.’ 이것이 복음입니다.



그런데 사도 바울은 오늘 본문에서 의미심장한 말을 합니다. 2절에 있는 말씀인데 ‘헛되이 믿지 않았으면’이라는 말입니다. 이 말이 의미하는 바는 믿는다고는 하는데 헛되이 믿는 일이 있다는 것입니다. 가만 생각해 보십시오. 오늘날 전 세계적으로 기독교인들이 얼마나 많습니까? 그런데도 여전히 세상은 혼란스럽고, 하나님의 창조세계는 신음하고 있으며, 지구촌 곳곳에서 전쟁의 소식은 멈추질 않습니다. 저는 이런 원인은 ‘헛되이 믿는’이들이 많기 때문이라고 봅니다. 헛되이 믿으면 안 되고 제대로 믿어야 합니다. 내가 복음이라고 믿는 것이 진짜 복음이 되려면 헛된 것이 아니라 참된 것이어야 합니다.
 

￭ 헛된 믿음과 참된 믿음

그러면 이것을 어떻게 알 수 있습니까?
하나님의 은혜로 되었다고 고백하는지, 자기의 공로로 그렇게 되었다고 하는지를 보면 압니다. 스스로도 생각해 보십시오. 내가 잘 믿어서 구원받았다고 생각하신다면, 아직 참된 믿음에 이르지 못한 것입니다. 하나님의 은혜로 내가 구원을 받았다고 생각하신 다면 참된 믿음에 이른 것입니다. 이것을 알면, 우리의 신앙생활은 겸손해질 수밖에 없습니다. 이것을 알면, 인간적인 생각에서는 다 끝난 것 같지만 하나님의 은혜를 기다림으로 절망하지 않습니다. 





10절 사도 바울의 고백을 보십시오.

“그러나 나는 하나님의 은혜로 오늘의 내가 되었습니다.”
왜 ‘그러나’입니까? 팔삭둥이로 태어난데다가 예수님을 믿는 사람들을 박해하였고 죄인 중의 괴수인 자신을 불러 사도로 삼아주셨기 때문입니다. 그러므로 하나님은 ‘그러나’의 하나님이시오, 이 하나님은 은혜의 하나님이십니다. 이것을 알면 참된 믿음이요, 이것을 알지 못하는 헛된 믿음입니다. 오늘 함께 부활주일 예배를 드리는 분들께서는 참된 믿음을 갖고 살아가시길 바랍니다.
 

￭ 하나님의 은혜가 한 것입니다

회심한 후에 사도 바울처럼 열심히 예수님을 전한 사람은 없었습니다. 오늘날, 우리가 예수님을 믿게 된 것도 사도 바울의 열심히 있었기에 가능한 일이었습니다. 바울 스스로도 ‘어느 누구보다도 더 많이 수고를 했다(10)’고 자평합니다. 그러나 그가 참된 믿음의 사람인 것은 ‘그러나 내가 이렇게 한 것이 아니라, 내가 늘 입고 있는 하나님의 은혜가 한 것입니다.’라는 고백을 통해서 알 수 있습니다.

하나님의 은혜를 언급할 때 바울은 ‘늘’이라는 단어를 사용합니다. ‘내가 늘 입고 있는’ 그렇습니다. 하나님의 은혜는 ‘늘’ 우리를 감싸고 있으므로, 우리는 늘 하나님의 은혜로 살아가고 있는 것입니다. 누구나 하나님의 은혜를 입고 살아가지만, 이것을 아는 사람이 있고, 모르는 사람이 있습니다. 여러분은 이것을 아는 분들입니다. 그러므로 하나님께서 늘 은혜로 여러분의 삶을 인도해 주실 것입니다. 그러니 죽음과도 같은 세상에서도 기죽지 마시고 담대하게 사십시오. 어둠의 세력과 싸울 때에도 겁내지 마십시오. 우리는 하나님의 은혜로 여기까지 왔고, 앞으로도 하나님의 은혜로 살아갈 사람들입니다. 이것을 아는 분들이 부활신앙을 살아가는 것입니다.

지금까지 하나님의 은혜가 우리를 여기까지 인도하셨습니다.
그리고 앞으로도 하나님의 은혜가 우리를 선한 길로 인도하실 것입니다. 오늘 함께 주님의 부활을 축하하며 예배하는 모든 분들에게 부활하신 주님의 은혜가 충만하길 축원합니다. 아멘.
 

[거둠 기도]


죽음을 죽이시고 부활하신 주님, 십자가의 고난을 통해 우리에게 새 생명의 길을 열어주신 주님의 은혜를 늘 기억하게 하옵소서. 지금도 하나님의 은혜 가운데 살게 하시고, 앞으로도 하나님의 은혜가운데 살아갈 줄 믿습니다. 오늘 권사임직을 받고, 세례를 받는 귀한 영혼들도 주님의 은혜 가운데 여기까지 왔사오니 일평생 주님의 은혜를 가득히 부어주옵소서. 부활의 주 예수 그리스도의 이름으로 기도드립니다. 아멘.

God's grace did it
1 Corinthians 15:1-11
 

Today is Resurrection Sunday.
Resurrection Sunday is a Sunday that commemorates the day when the Lord suffered on the cross, died, and rose again. Living with resurrection faith means not only believing in the resurrection of Jesus, but also living without fear of the forces of death that oppress us. Not living according to the culture of darkness or death, which stands at the antithesis of resurrection, is living a life of resurrection here and now.

￭ Even if I can’t express it all

The ‘mystery of resurrection’ cannot be fully expressed or explained in human language. Although it cannot be fully explained, it is clear that the resurrection of Jesus was true.
From the moment Jesus was arrested and after he died on the cross, the disciples scattered and hid. Some returned to their original lives, while others hid for fear that harm might come to them because they were with Jesus. However, those who were so afraid of what had happened ‘risked their lives’ to preach the resurrection of Jesus. These were things that could not be done without meeting the resurrected Jesus. Some people saw the resurrected Jesus in person, and others heard about it from someone else. We are people who will hear about the resurrection of Jesus, not see it in person. But we believe in the resurrection of the Lord.

￭ If you hold fast to the gospel (2)

What is the gospel?
'The gospel is good news.’ What is the good news? The good news is that Jesus, the Son of God, came to this earth in human form. But Jesus, who was in human form, died. So I thought it was all over, but He killed death and came back to life. He was resurrected and gave the ‘hope of resurrection’ to those who believe in Him. So, ‘Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will not perish but be saved.’ This is the gospel.

However, Apostle Paul says something meaningful in today’s text. It is in verse 2, and it means ‘if you have not believed in vain’. What this means is that there are times when you say you believe, but you believe in vain. Just think about it. How many Christians are there in the world today? However, the world is still in chaos, God's creation is groaning, and news of war does not stop all over the world. I believe that the reason for this is that there are many people who ‘believe in vain’. You must not believe in vain; you must believe properly. For what I believe to be the gospel to be the real gospel, it must be true and not vain.

￭ Vain faith and true faith

So how do you know this?
We can tell by looking at whether they confess that it was by the grace of God or by their own merits. Think about it yourself. If you think you are saved because you believe well, you have not yet come to true faith. If you believe that you have been saved by the grace of God, you have reached true faith. Knowing this, we have no choice but to become humble in our religious life. If you know this, you will not despair by waiting for God's grace, even though it may seem like it's over in your human mind.

Look at Apostle Paul’s confession in verse 10.
“But I became who I am today by the grace of God.” Why ‘but’? This is because he was born as an octopus and persecuted those who believed in Jesus. He called himself, the greatest of sinners, and made him an apostle. Therefore, God is a God of ‘but’, and this God is a God of grace. If you know this, it is true faith; if you do not know this, it is vain faith. I hope that those who worship together today on Easter Sunday will live with true faith.

￭ God’s grace did it

After conversion, no one preached Jesus as diligently as Apostle Paul. Today, it was possible for us to believe in Jesus because of the hard work of Apostle Paul. Paul himself said, ‘I worked harder than anyone else (10).’ However, we can know that he is a person of true faith through his confession, ‘But it was not I who did this, but the grace of God that I always wear.’

When referring to God’s grace, Paul uses the word ‘always’. ‘That’s what I always wear.’ God’s grace ‘always’ surrounds us, so we are always living by God’s grace. Everyone lives with the grace of God, but some people know this and some do not. You are the ones who know this. Therefore, God will always guide your life with grace. So, do not be discouraged and live courageously even in a world that is like death. Don't be afraid when fighting the forces of darkness. We have come this far by the grace of God, and we are the people who will continue to live by the grace of God. Those who know this live the faith of resurrection.

God's grace has brought us this far.
And God’s grace will continue to guide us along a good path. I pray that the grace of the risen Lord will be filled with all those who celebrate and worship with us today. Amen.

[Prayer]
Lord, who killed death and resurrected, help us always remember your grace that opened the way to new life for us through the suffering of the cross. I believe that God allows us to live in His grace now, and that we will continue to live in God’s grace in the future.  We pray in the name of Jesus Christ, the Lord of the Resurrection. Amen.
